Performance Development Planning  

Proper job descriptions should be linked to a business-focused and employee-fair performance evaluation system.

Good performance development systems cover 4 major areas: one, The key indicators of individual performance - the results expected; second, the tasks necessary to accomplish the job and produce the results necessary; third, the appropriate behaviors or how the job is to be done; and fourth, the personal growth plan to guide the associate in his or her behavioral development.

One of the critical issues is how to integrate and balance the intangible aspects of their job behaviors with the quantifiable task measurements. The other is how to train each level of the organization to use the system so it is not so intimidating and reinforces what needs to be stressed.
