Strategic
Priorities
The
purpose of strategy is to gain competitive advantage.
We need to understand the competitive environment and select the course
of action that will provide the greatest possible edge over your competitors
while meeting your customers expectations. Do you know
clearly what the most important things to do for your organization
for the next 6-12 months that will have the greatest impact on your
business?
The
essence of strategy is differentiation. Differentiation
tells us how we can be different from our competition; the reasons why
customers will come to us, and turn away from those that compete against us.
Since we can not be all things to all people, we have to determine
what we can do best from our available choices
(differentiation), and then pursue the better choices with passion
and vigor.
It is ultimately about setting the right
priorities for your organization. What is important to do and what should
not be done so it can be communicated to everyone throughout the business.
A great example of communicating the right
priorities occurred in the 1960's at NASA. As one of the key executives was
leaving the building he inquired what the maintenance man was working on.
This janitor said, "Helping to put a man on the moon." The message was
clear. The priorities were clear.
Have
you determined what are the most important activities to be done in
the next 6-12 months to accomplish the values and mission of your
organization? If not, speak to us and let us work with you to create that
specific focus. Top of Page
