Values

Values drive both people and organizations. Each of us values our relationships. 

We choose to visit a store or purchase from a company because they reflect our personal basic values. (We want it cheap, clean, fast, helpful, accurate, etc.)   

We choose to work in a company because they reflect the values we believe in as well. (We want it fair, consistent, fun, interesting, challenging, etc.) 

Purpose of writing down your values:

  1. To ensure a consistent, clear purpose throughout the organization.  

  2. To provide a point of reference for all planning decisions.

  3. To gain commitment from those within the organization by clearly communicating the nature and concept of the organization’s business.  

  4. To gain understanding and support from customers and other people outside the organization who are important to its success.  

It’s a dynamic, living document that enables virtually everybody within the organization to focus their efforts in a supportive manner. It clearly defines who you are, and who you want to be.
